MARSHA MEADE, NEW AUDITOR-GENERAL APPOINTED

24th November, 2025

Miss Marsha Meade, who has been the Deputy Auditor General for 19 years in addition to Acting Auditor-General for the last 4.5 consecutive years, has been appointed as the island’s new Auditor-General effective 1 October 2025.  Miss Meade holds a BA in Business Administration and a MSc in Audit Management and Consultancy.  Her extensive experience, knowledge and dedication as a long-standing public servant in auditing has branded her as the most prepared to ever take up this high-profile role.

Her appointment follows a rigorous recruitment drive earlier this year by the Governor’s Office which ran locally and internationally for the highly specialised post.  The recruitment panel was chaired by the Head of the Governor’s Office, and individuals from senior auditing and leadership roles at the UK National Audit Office and the UK Government Internal Audit Agency.

Under the Constitution, the Auditor-General has the power and responsibility to audit the public accounts of Montserrat, and of all public offices, and any public corporations or other bodies or organisations established by an Act of the Legislature.  She also has the power to undertake financial and value for money audits in respect of these entities.

In this role, Miss Meade is an Officer of the Legislative Assembly by virtue of the Office she holds.

The National Audit Office wishes Miss Meade many congratulations on her well-deserved appointment as our Auditor-General.  She has been instrumental in developing the work, image and reputation of the Audit Office over years and we look forward to future developments and giving her our full support.
